Performs a variety of functions to assist in organizing, digitizing, preserving, accessing, and storage of documents and records related to 'Water Resources' which includes the Concession Lease Agreement, the Kline's Island Waste Water Plant, the Collection System, the Water Filtration Plant, the Distribution system and other Public Works Departments.
Works under the combined supervision of the Compliance Auditors, Office Manager and other Public Works Management designees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) Helps to ensure the accessibility of the digital resources relating to Water Resources for the City of Allentown and other collections.
(B) Assist in determining the appropriate digital and physical storage structure.
(C) Development and the preparation of metadata descriptions and finding aids.
(D) May need to analyze the intellectual content of the source material, and search for additional related materials for inclusion in the collection.
(E) Digitize documents not already digitized to include in the collection
(F) Preserve and appropriately store physical documents.
(G) Assist in creating policies and procedures for managing new digital and physical materials for the storage, preservation, organization, description, and accessibility of documents. [new documents may roll right to the public city website, if begun, assist with developing process and ensuring information on website]
(H) Wears appropriate safety equipment as needed
(I) Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
(J) Performs related work as may be required
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Coursework in Library Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Biology
(B) COA requires that student be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Computer proficiency in software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and SharePoint.
(B) Ability to organize information, organize resources and establish priorities.
(C) Knowledge of or ability to learn archival and preservation concepts, methodology, and techniques.
(D) Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
(E) Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively
(F) Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions
(G) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public
Minimum age of 18 years old with a valid driver's license of the appropriate classification.
