JOB DESCRIPTION
THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION

Class Title: Compliance Intern
Pay Rate: $10.00
Department: Public Works
Bureau: Office of Compliance
Union: None

GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of functions to assist in oversight of the water system lease and to achieve regulatory compliance with state and federal programs.

The position requires a flexible and technically proficient individual to perform functions in both the office and field. Specific duties are described below.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the combined supervision of the Compliance Auditors, Office Manager and other Public Works Management designees.

None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) Assists with special projects including, but not limited to the Records Archive program, Chronicling, and document preparation for reports (including regulatory compliance) and projects as may be assigned
(B) Creates trending reports
(C) Performs complex and confidential administrative support
(D) Provides quality and effective customer service with courtesy and understanding to our customers, citizens and internal departments
(E) Wears appropriate safety equipment as needed
(F) Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
(G) Performs related work as may be required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Extra consideration given to those candidates that have coursework in Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Library Sciences
(B) Computer proficiency in software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
(C) COA requires that student be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Computer proficiency in software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and SharePoint.
(B) Ability to organize information, organize resources, and establish priorities.
(C) Knowledge of or ability to learn archival and preservation concepts, methodology, and techniques.
(D) Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
(E) Ability to produce various reports.
(F) Ability to assist in a variety of research or study projects.
(G) Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
(H) Ability to communicate effectively.
(I) Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
(J) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
(K) Ability to work safely and independently

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age of 18 years old with a valid driver's license of the appropriate classification.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Requires use of a personal computer, software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, GIS, motorized vehicle, and mobile radio.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up 60 pounds. The employee must frequently use push and pull methods while raking. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works within an office environment or sometimes outdoors in all weather conditions. The employee may work in traffic, near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or slippery conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee must wear proper clothing and use safety equipment.
