| JOB DESCRIPTION | THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION
Class Title: Seasonal Laborer Pay Rate: $10.00 Department: Public Works Bureau: Traffic Planning & Control Union: None
GENERAL PURPOSE Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties to prepare, install and repair/replace various roadway signs, pavement marking and other traffic control devices throughout the City.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the supervision of the Traffic Chief Maintenance Supervisor or designee
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct sign inventory and prepare documentation. Assist with thermoplastic/line painting pavement marking. Assist with traffic sign installation and temporary posting. Assist with setting up special event traffic control patterns. Assist with temporary traffic control at work zone areas. Wears appropriate safety equipment as needed. Perform routine vehicle maintenance as outlined on daily inspection sheets. Perform related work as may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: (A) Completion of a standard high school course or GED. (B) Valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (A) Knowledge of traffic control devices and traffic signage. (B) Knowledge of tools, materials, and processes needed in the performance of duties. (C) Ability to read, write ad and subtract whole numbers (D) Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. (E) Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. (F) Ability to read and understand city maps and routes. (G) Ability to understand and follow standard routines and practices. (H) Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions; Ability to work safely (I) Ability to use small power and hand tools. (J) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Minimum age of 18 years old with a valid driver's license of the appropriate classification.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED The following tools are used; volt meter, transistor checkers, oscilloscope and digital test probes, computer-based monitor tester, power drill, underground wire and loop detector locator, tar vat, tone line tester, rotary hammer drill, and ceiling crane
