| JOB DESCRIPTION | City of Allentown Position Description
Class Title: Summer Laborer-Electrician Apprentice Hourly Rate: $15.00 Department: Parks & Recreation
GENERAL PURPOSE
Position offers a hands-on experience for those exploring career pathways as an electrician. Works with the Department of Parks and Recreation Tradesman (Electrician) and assists with the performance of skilled tasks. Provides a safe and inclusive environment to learn a trade.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Tradesman (Electrician).
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Does not exercise any supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
" Practical working experience with electrical systems and equipment. " Learn to identify, analyze, troubleshoot and assist with repairs of equipment and electrical faults. " Learn how to order replacement parts and equipment as needed. " Learn to complete electrical installations and carrying out various maintenance duties. " Learn from a master electrician. " May assist with regular maintenance needs of the parks as needed. (Ex. mowing, trimming, trash collection, etc.) " Provide quality and effective customer service with courtesy and understanding to our customers, citizens and internal departments. " Perform related work as may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
" Must be 18 years of age or older " Valid PA Driver's License Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
" Ability to learn to read technical manuals, blueprints and schematics. " Knowledge of reading, writing, and simple arithmetic " Knowledge of care and use of common tools for general maintenance and electrical work. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
" Operate power equipment and tools necessary to trades " Motorized vehicles, including pickup truck
