| JOB DESCRIPTION | Class Title: LIFEGUARD Pay Range: starting at $14 an hour Department: Parks & Recreation - Bureau of Recreation Union: N/A
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to all emergencies in all depths of water at facility; prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring at the aquatic facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: " Minimum 16 years of age " Maintain current, valid certification in and/or the ability to pass all of the following: o American Red Cross Lifeguarding o American Red Cross First Aid o American Red Cross CPR&AED for the Professional Rescuer o Additional certifications required by local or state laws " Successful completion of pre-employment lifeguard knowledge and skills check " Successful completion of background checks: current Act 34, 151, and 114 FBI clearances " Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening
RESPONSIBILITIES: " Patron surveillance to prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring at your aquatic facility " Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies " Monitor activities in and near the water through constant patron surveillance " Prevent injuries by minimizing and/or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors " Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations and educating patrons about them " Administer first aid and CPR, including using an AED " Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the facility supervisor " Complete records and reports as needed (pool water chemistry, incident reports, etc.) " Participate in regular in-service trainings " Cleaning or performing maintenance as needed or requested. " Work as a team with other lifeguards, facility staff and management " Complete additional duties as assigned by facility supervisor or Parks & Recreation supervisors

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
