| JOB DESCRIPTION | Class Title: Full Time Seasonal Golf Course Laborer (Mar.-Nov.) Grade Number: $15.93 per hour; M06 (80%) Department: Parks and Recreation Union: Yes
GENERAL PURPOSE
A Full Time Seasonal golf course laborer helps perform all necessary duties of golf course maintenance. Scheduling may include a weekend.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Chief Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Mechanic
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The golf course laborer is responsible for all aspects of golf and property maintenance.
A. Mows or Rolls, Tees, Greens, Fairways, or designated turf area. B. Sets up course: Change pins, move tees, collect trash, operate blowers. C. Assists with Irrigation repair and instillation along with hand watering. D. Maintains bunkers, flower beds, driving range, parking lots and other areas of the property. E. Uses Zero Turn mowers, utility vehicles, and specialty golf equipment. F. Provide quality and effective customer service with courtesy and understanding to our customers, citizens, and internal departments. G. Performs other duties and related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: A. Knowledge of reading, writing, and simple arithmetic. B. Knowledge of care and use of common tools for general grounds maintenance. C. Valid PA Driver's License D. Equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A. Experience in turf maintenance. B. Demonstrates the ability to operate golf course equipment, tractors, chain saws, hand tools, and heavy machinery and knowledge of safety precautions. C. The ability to differentiate between different types of grasses and mowing heights. D. Ability to mow greens, tees, fairways, rake sand bunkers, change pins and hand water. E. Ability to follow instruction and use of electronic handhelds such as tablets. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Requires the use of various golf course and grounds maintenance mowers and handheld tools. These include turf tractors, push mowers, weed whackers chain saws and associated equipment. Operate Backhoe, Skid Steer, Truck, or related heavy equipment.
