| JOB DESCRIPTION | Class Title: Concert Series Staff Intern Compensation: $15.00 per hour Department: Department of Parks and Recreation Bureau: Recreation
GENERAL PURPOSE
To assist in the planning, booking, and scheduling with the operations of the Department of Parks and Recreation summer concert series.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Recreation Program Specialist and / or the Director of Parks and Recreation and Administrative Supervisor as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the development and the onsite operations of summer concert series at West Park and other concert locations throughout the City of Allentown. - Work closely with office clerical staff and Recreation Program Specialist and Parks staff. - Assist with recruiting, booking, scheduling of music performers throughout the summer months. - Keep abreast of new music performers in the Lehigh Valley area to better establish a well-rounded, varied genre, concert series. - Be on site for all concerts and announce bands before each concert. - Assist with any on site operations at the concert venues. - Take attendance 30 minutes into the concert for statistical purposes. - Meets the attendance requirements of the position, which calls for a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. - Provide quality and effective customer service with courtesy and understanding to City customers, citizens and internal departments. - Meet with Recreation Program Specialist on a weekly or biweekly basis to check in on any updates for the upcoming season. - Must be able to be self-motivated and work remotely when needed. - Performs related work as may required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Pursuing Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management and/or Arts, Entertainment, Media or a related field at an accredited University
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (A) Ability to exercise strong customer service skills. (B) Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications. (C) Ability to market and advertise effectively on the internet (websites/social media). (D) Ability to cooperate with private and public agencies and general public to organize and conduct effective programs. (E) Ability to work independently. (F) Ability to deal with and interact with the public using diplomacy. (G) Ability to develop marketing materials. (H) Ability to keep and organize detailed records. (I) Interact effectively with bands, musicians, performers along with their crews. (J) Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals and groups with diplomacy and professionalism. (K) Exercise sound judgment and flexibility. (L) Ability to understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions. (M) Ability to prioritize work assignments, handle multiple tasks and projects, resulting in work being performed in the most efficient and timely manner. (N) Excellent problem solving skills.

Requires intensive daily use of personal computer, telephone, copier, scanner, and other office equipment.
